GRANTS

COMN Grants for 2017

Community Outreach Mission Network (COMN) Outreach Grants are available for financial member congregations of the COMN. These grants are provided to assist member congregations in their community outreach.  Funded from the members’ contributions to the Network, these grants are available provided that they are:
for a new outreach initiative; or
for expanding a current outreach; or
for raising the profile of a congregation in their local community;
and is a once off grant up to $1,000 for the initiative

Member congregations receiving these grants will share the progress and results of their grant funded outreach initiatives with the rest of the Network at one of our gatherings.

For a member congregation’s application to be considered by the COMN Grants Committee, a member congregation’s application will need to show how their new initiative:
is a response to a perceived community need
will be promoted in their community
is to be funded
will be evaluated
aligns with their mission goals

It would be only in unusual circumstances that a member congregation would receive more than one grant in the same year.

Applications are to be writing, authorised by two of the congregation’s leadership team and are to be (preferably) emailed to the COMN Administrative Officer:

(if you aren’t able to email it through, call Brian on 041 3994837 for postal address)

West Lakes

Bargains by the Bridge- West Lakes Church have a vision of Bridging the Gap to their local community as a means of living out the good news of Jesus’ love. Our new Op shop was opened ‘Bargains by the Bridge’ and it is proving to be a great success with the local community.  The inspiration for the idea came from congregation members Margaret Adams and Joy Smith, who transformed the church store room into an attractive room full of bargains. Together they have raised a team of volunteers, from the wider community as well as the church congregation, to staff the op-shop. Everyone wants to be in on this venture!  Bargains by the Bridge – Op Shop. Open at the church on Monday to Friday each week from 9.30am to 3.30pm and Saturday 9.30am to 2.30pm. Entry at the back of the church.
